Saudi clubs have set their sights on Lionel Messi.
The 35-year-old striker`s contract with PSG runs until the summer, with an option to extend for another year. If Messi still does not renew the agreement with the Parisians, a line of clubs from the Saudi Arabian Premier League will line up behind him, according to ESPN.
Following the move of Cristiano Ronaldo to Al Nasr, Saudi clubs want the world champion as part of Argentina to also play in their country. Messi will be able to expect a salary equal to Ronaldo`s, which is $200 million a year.
Saudi professional clubs are allowed to register seven foreign players, but the limit will be increased to eight in order to attract more foreign players to the league.
Sources told ESPN that the Saudi clubs will receive help in signing the best players from Europe. Who exactly will provide assistance, is not specified.
Earlier that Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad want to sign Messi and are willing to pay 350 million euros per season.
