Graeme Souness names the 5 greatest players of all time.
In first place is ex-Liverpool player Lionel Messi.
Messi is my number one.
In second place is Pele. As a child, I only saw him on TV. But all the people of my generation remember him in that legendary yellow T-shirt. He had strength, speed and technique.
In third place is Diego Maradona. I played against him during part of my career in Italy. When you`re up close on the field and see how he controls the ball and has such a clear vision of everything else, it`s just breathtaking. And you understood that there was absolutely nothing you could do about him.
In fourth place is Cristiano Ronaldo. With some stretch, he can also claim to be the best in history. Like Messi, he has stability. But now he needs to be careful about protecting his legacy.
He needs to pull himself together and realize that he risks harming how he will be remembered. In fact, he cannot calmly leave the stage, accepting with dignity that his career is coming to an end. He must do this because his career is worthy of celebration.
